There are only 450 Right Whales left in the world - Shipstrikes is the #1 mortality factor.
Blue Whale are seriously threatened off the west coast of the U.S. and beyond. Again, strikes by large commercial vessels are the #1 culprit.
Commercial traffic is set to increase xx % over the next several years.

The Whale Alert Project is a multi-disciplinary project marrying the latest in cetacean research with crowd sourcing to highlight "high risk" areas - regions where commercial shipping and whale concentrations intersect - in order to reduce the world-wide occurrence of fatal whale ship strikes.
